So, Here’s the Thing…

Here’s the thing, it would appear that last night, in a semi sleep-deprived state, I had the brilliant idea to sign up to yet another blog challenge. Some of you may have already noticed the new badge appear in my sidebar. If not, here it is again:

Spot it that time? Good!

This badge and associated post by Daily (W)rite sprung up on my reader and instantly caught my attention. Now, I can usually shirk writing challenges like a pro and, considering I’m already tied up in the 52 Week Flash Fiction Challenge, I thought that this one would be no different.

Then I read the premise…

One blog post per day (Sundays excluded) throughout April each beginning with a different letter of the alphabet from A to Z. The posts can be about any topic so long as the post’s central theme is that day’s letter e.g. April 1st corresponds to the letter A.

Now, I WANT to do this challenge.

With that in mind, I’ll be putting together a Dictionary of Tales.ย A single piece of flash fiction, of no more than 500 words, for each letter of the alphabet, 26 tales in 26 days. I want to tie them all together with an overarching theme but…I can’t decide which one to go for.

My friends, I once again need your help. I know what you’re thinking ‘another poll post so soon after the last one. Chris’s lost it. I’m going to stop reading now’. Please don’t, I’m doing this for a good reason – you’re the ones that are going to read them. It’s only right that you get to decide what you’re reading.

The options are:

  • Death
  • Myths, Monsters and Legends
  • Conspiracy Theories, or
  • A true Dictionary of Tales – 26 words randomly generated

I’m even open to any suggestions you may have.

Thanks for your vote, your help and your continued support. I promise this will be the last poll post for a long while.

  1. Chris, Chris Chris…why did you have to do this? Now I have to sign up to this challenge too!
i like your themes – but conspiracy theories sound best ๐Ÿ™‚ I might go with themed posts myself…will probably go with something bordering on weird.

  2. Hi Chris – Thanks for the follow and good luck for the A to Z challenge! This will be my 3rd year doing the challenge and the past two years have been a blast – meeting (virtually) other bloggers, reading their A to Z challenges, procrastinating on my own posts ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m still debating my theme for this year though…

  3. I voted Conspiracy theories. I’m happy my post encouraged you to sign up for the AZ. I would suggest a lighter background for your blog because it is hard on the eyes for the ‘visually-challenged’ like me :).

      1. That’s great :)…it is definitely easier to read now.

On another note, I’m thinking of starting a small community for bloggers: events/ groups etc. Would you like to team up?

      2. If you’re on FB, friend me at Damyanti April Blogging. If you don’t FB, then mail me at atozstories at gmail dot com to take the conversation further.

  4. Thanks for signing up for the 5th Annual A-to-Z Challenge, Chris! I like that you left an open option for voters in addition to the topics that are presented in the poll…which I found a bit hard to choose from because I like most of them, lol. In the end, I went for Conspiracy theories because it could potentially be controversial and who doesn’t enjoy a little controversy every now and then. If anything, it will add to the diverse selection of topics that bloggers are writing about, by the time April rolls around.

Cheers and welcome to our alphabet blogging partaayyy!

  5. Ummm that sounds more like a threat than a promise. ๐Ÿ™‚ I vote for the random list, gives you more “wiggle room” and we won’t know much about what we will be getting. Like Forest’s box of chocolates!
